How meow! It’s still raining here. Flood waters reached the end of the street yesterday.

I did something bad.

Flood’s been raising quite fast  back there no? I think it’s because they’re raising the highway.

Hit me. What happened?

I went to fetch auntie from the church yesterday since it was raining hard. There were these two kittens on the side of the road in front of house #1 with two mommy cats

roseplant15a CC Three:

You ran after them and took them home?!

26403_109827965718918_8148261_n Salmon Cat:

The two mommy cats were trying to pick up one kitten (gray). Gutter’s already flooded. Flood was two houses to where they were.

You ran after them and they fell into the water?!

One mommy cat was able to pick up gray kitten. She and the other mommy cat went to the house #2 across the street.  I thought they’d pick the other kitten (white) up so I went on my way.

On our way back we saw white kitten in the fenced sidewalk in front of house #1. The mommy cats left it. I could not reach it. It was raining hard and it refuses to move from under the bushes.

roseplant15a CC Three:

Did it drown?

I don’t know. Auntie said it would jump over our neighbor’s fence for higher ground. Will check later.

I feel so bad!!!!

Is it still raining there?

12:28AM

26403_109827965718918_8148261_n Salmon Cat:

Yes. We’ve lifted your bed’s mattress and everything off the first floor of your shelves.

12:29AM

roseplant15a CC Three:

Yikes. It got into the main house? Did you guys turn off the power?

12:29AM

26403_109827965718918_8148261_n Salmon Cat:

Yes. Two inches deep. Thigh deep on the street. Yes.

12:29AM

roseplant15a CC Three:

Thanks for lifting my stuff. Hope the rain eases up. Is there a typhoon?

12:29AM

26403_109827965718918_8148261_n Salmon Cat:

Southwest monsoon again. There’s a typhoon, Maring, but it’s not on land so there’s no signal.

12:44AM

roseplant15a CC Three:

It was hot here. We didn’t think it would rain so hard there. I’ve been chasing cats. How are the people and cats there?

12:49AM

Asleep. It’s like Ondoy. It was sunny there in SG. Fine weather for the F1 Races. PAGASA says 3 more hours of rain. Two Bulacan dams are releasing water.

Meycauayan’s one of the last municipalities to announce class suspension. Times like this I wish Meycauayan has an official facebook page like Marilao.  http://www.facebook.com/MarileNews

Deaths

We never got to switch off for Earth Hour. It seemed impolite to do so. We had guests paying respects to my uncle, my dad’s eldest brother. We were at Loyola Chapels Guadalupe for the second time this year. It would have been creepy.

Last I saw him alive was at my aunt-in-law’s funeral.  His hands were shaking badly because of Parkinson’s disease. Articles on the internet point out that while there is treatment for symptoms, there is no cure yet for the disease and I hate the doctor who told my dad and my cousin otherwise.  My uncle lived with my cousin’s family. He had not married. My nephew, the eldest of my cousin’s sons from my father’s side, had been taking care of the old folks who have recently passed away. His life practically revolved around them and now he seems to be cast adrift. Continue reading “Deaths”

Tropical Fruit Salad

My mom has a green thumb. She collects seeds of every fruits and veggies that lands in our kitchen (to be planted later) and would compost their peels and parts left which aren’t edible. She and my aunt are responsible for the mishmash of plants, trees and shrubs, that surround our house.

It’s during summer when I’m very much grateful for the trees and the shade and the all-you-can-eat fruit platter they provide.

Our grapefruit tree has given us fruit all year long. Unfortunately, except for my mom, we’re not really super fond of grapefruits. Don’t get angry Grapefruit tree! We still want you to produce more fruits.
